Enabling Google Analytics 4 (GA4) in Kademi

Understanding how visitors interact with your website is essential to improving user experience, measuring performance, and optimizing your marketing strategy.

Google Analytics 4 (GA4) is the latest version of Google’s analytics platform, replacing Universal Analytics with a more advanced, event-based approach to tracking. It provides deeper insights into user behaviour, improved cross-device measurement, and enhanced privacy controls that align with modern data standards.

Kademi integrates seamlessly with GA4, allowing you to monitor website traffic, page views, conversions, and engagement directly from your Kademi-hosted site.

In this guide, you’ll learn how to set up GA4, retrieve your Measurement ID, connect it to your Kademi website, and confirm that your data is flowing correctly, giving you complete visibility into how visitors navigate your digital ecosystem.

Before you begin

Before connecting Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to your Kademi website, make sure you have everything set up and ready.

You’ll need access to a Google account with permission to create or manage a GA4 property. If you’re new to GA4, you can sign in at analytics.google.com and follow Google’s setup process to create a new property.

You’ll also need administrator access to your Kademi account so you can enable the Google Analytics app and update your website settings.

If your Kademi instance doesn’t yet have the Google Analytics app enabled, go to the Apps section in your admin dashboard and add it before proceeding.

Note: Universal Analytics (the old “UA-” tracking code) is no longer supported. Kademi now works exclusively with Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and its Measurement ID format, which begins with “G-”.

Step 1: Enable the Google Analytics app in Kademi

Start by ensuring the Google Analytics app is active in your Kademi account. This app enables the integration between your website and your GA4 property.

  1. Log in to your Kademi admin dashboard.

  2. Open the Apps section from the left-hand menu.

  3. Locate the Google Analytics app.

  4. Click Enable if it isn’t already activated.

Once enabled, the app will allow you to add your GA4 Measurement ID to your website settings.

Tip: If you don’t see the app, check that you have the correct permissions or contact your Kademi administrator to enable it.

Step 2: Enable Google Analytics for your website

After activating the app, you’ll need to enable it at the website level so it can begin collecting data.

  1. From your Kademi dashboard, go to Website Manager → Websites.

  2. Select the website you want to connect to Google Analytics.

  3. Open Website Settings.

  4. Look for the Google Analytics or Integrations tab.

  5. Ensure the Google Analytics toggle is switched ON.

This step activates GA tracking specifically for your chosen site.

Step 3: Create a Google Analytics 4 property

If you haven’t set up a GA4 property yet, you’ll need to create one in your Google Analytics account.

  1. Go to Google Analytics.

  2. Click the Admin icon in the lower-left corner.

  3. Under the Account column, select an existing account or create a new one.

  4. In the Property column, click + Create Property.

  5. Enter your property name, select your reporting time zone and currency, then click Next.

  6. Add your business details when prompted and click Create.

Your new property will automatically use the GA4 data model — no Universal Analytics setup is needed.

Once your property is ready, you can create a Data Stream to start collecting website data.

Step 4: Create a Web Data Stream in GA4

Your data stream tells GA4 where to collect information from. In this case, it will be your Kademi website.

  1. In your Google Analytics account, open Admin.

  2. Under your GA4 property, go to Data Streams → Add Stream → Web.

  3. Enter your website URL (for example, https://your-domain.com) and give the stream a descriptive name such as Main Website Stream.

  4. Toggle Enhanced Measurement ON to automatically track page views, scrolls, outbound clicks, file downloads, and more.

  5. Click Create Stream.

Once the stream is created, you’ll see a Measurement ID that begins with “G-”. Copy this ID — you’ll need it shortly when connecting GA4 to Kademi.

Step 5: Add your Measurement ID to Kademi

Now that you have your GA4 Measurement ID, you can add it to your Kademi website to begin tracking.

  1. Go back to your Kademi admin dashboard.

  2. Open Website Manager → Websites, then select your site.

  3. Click Website Settings.

  4. Locate the Google Analytics ID field.

  5. Paste your GA4 Measurement ID (e.g., G-A1B2C3D4E5).

  6. Click Save.

Kademi will now send tracking data from your website directly to your GA4 property.

It can take a few minutes for the first hits to appear in Google Analytics. Don’t worry if you don’t see data immediately — GA4 sometimes processes initial data with a short delay.

Step 6: Verify your connection

To confirm that your Kademi website is correctly sending data to GA4:

  1. Open your website in a new browser tab.

  2. In Google Analytics, navigate to Reports → Realtime.

  3. Look for at least one active user — that’s your visit.

If you don’t see any activity after a few minutes, double-check the following:

  • The Measurement ID in your Kademi settings matches the one in your GA4 Data Stream.

  • You saved your changes and refreshed the site.

  • Your browser’s ad-blocker isn’t preventing GA4 scripts from loading.

Tip: Testing in an incognito or private browsing window can help confirm your setup without cached data interfering.

Step 7: Configure consent and privacy (optional)

If your website receives traffic from regions with data protection laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, it’s important to configure Google’s Consent Mode and ensure your users’ privacy preferences are respected.

In Google Analytics:

  1. Open your GA4 property and go to Admin → Data Settings → Data Collection.

  2. Enable Consent Mode to control how analytics cookies behave before consent is granted.

  3. Update your site’s cookie banner to include an option for analytics tracking consent.

In Kademi:

  • You can add a cookie consent banner through your website’s HTML or a third-party script.

  • Once users consent, GA4 automatically begins collecting event data.

Step 8: Troubleshooting

If your GA4 data isn’t appearing, these are the most common causes and how to fix them:

  • Incorrect Measurement ID

Double-check that the Measurement ID you pasted in Kademi matches exactly the one in your GA4 web data stream. Even a single missing character can stop data from sending.

  • Data delay

GA4 sometimes takes several minutes to process new hits. Wait a few minutes, refresh your reports, and then check the Realtime view again to confirm tracking.

  • Enhanced Measurement disabled

If page views, clicks, or scrolls aren’t being tracked, go to your GA4 property settings → Data Streams → Web → Enhanced Measurement and ensure it’s turned on.

  • Old tracking code (UA-)

If you’re still using a code beginning with “UA-”, that’s a Universal Analytics tag. Universal Analytics has been fully deprecated, so you’ll need to create a GA4 property and use the Measurement ID that begins with “G-”.

  • Browser or ad-blocker interference

Some browsers or ad-blockers can block GA4 scripts. Try testing your website in an incognito window or using a different browser.

  • Tag not firing properly

Install the Tag Assistant Chrome extension to verify that the GA4 tag is firing correctly when you load your website. This helps confirm that your setup is active

Conclusion

You’ve now successfully connected Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to your Kademi website. Once tracking is active, you’ll start seeing real-time data appear in your GA4 dashboard, showing how visitors interact with your pages, what content performs best, and where engagement can improve.

By combining GA4’s powerful event-based tracking with Kademi’s digital experience tools, you can turn data into action — refining your campaigns, optimizing user journeys, and driving stronger results.
